I just made a big long rant on the Facebook page. I really think it's the best route for them to go. Everyone's doing it, and they can strike up distribution deals in different territories. Record labels are not backing them. It's a travesty. They would have complete control over their work, and get all of the revenue. They're already own their own so to speak, trying to promote themselves for an album that barely anyone knows about, and those who do can't get it. Look how long it took the label to do the simplest thing like putting the album up on iTunes! The band could do this themselves. Now, they're left on their own for promotion, and the label that doesn't lift a finger still has to okay how they plan to do everything. It's insane.
What do you think?

I wish they could. It's just SO hard doing it indie though. Costs a lot of money. RC has money, connections, lots of people (supposedly) working for you, deals to sell your music, etc.

RC has money, connections, lots of people (supposedly) working for you, deals to sell your music, etc. Others are doing it with no problem whatsoever, and AoB aren't getting connections, nor deals to sell their music, by being part of a record company. They, the label, are taking all the money, and the band is seeing next to none of it. They just aren't interested in them anymore, and I doubt the band would do much better anywhere else. Sophie Ellis-Bextor just announced that she's leaving Universal, and starting her own label to distribute her new music. Time to cut the cord!
