If I had one CD with songs that defined my life on it, Ace of Base would most definitely be on it!
In 1995 I turned 12 years old. The first time I fell in love with a music group, it was The Beatles and I was 6 years old. The second music group I fell in love with was AoB, and I remember that summer in '95 like it was yesterday!
First I got The Sign on cassette. Then I got an AoB VHS tape with interviews and music videos on it (not sure what the VHS tape was called, but I might still have it somewhere...)
I watched that video over and over and OVER until I memorized every word on it. And all the cool AoB moves in the music videos. And then... I started my own AoB cover band. I recruited my neighbor, Jennah, to be Jenny (Jennah had brown hair) and I was Linn (cuz I had blonde hair). I know... totally logical, right? Lol. Then I forced my younger brother and his friend to be Joker and Buddha. We all lived on the same street so of course (unfortunately for the 2 boys) we were able to practice almost everyday! Our performances (for our parents and the neighborhood kids) were outstanding! As I'm sure you can imagine (wink wink).
So thank you, Ace of Base, for providing me with countless hours of fun and entertainment. I'm sure our parents, and anyone else in the neighborhood who were fortunate enough to see us perform, are equally grateful to you!
Also thank you for giving me yet another reason to torture my little brother, although I think he secretly liked it (he's a drummer/guitarist in his own band now!) And as for me, I'm still singing and I still love Ace of Base!!! Love- Amy : )
