Hi. If you have some free time, could you please help me out? I already have a mix submitted to the contest but there's nothing special about it, really. It's like a hundred other dance mixes, so I'll probably take it down and upload something completely opposite. I make a lot of simple piano and string ballads, and below is the one I'm working on for "The Sign." I've also included two versions of my dance mix, if you're interested. 1. Any volume levels need changing? My computer's messed up, so I can never tell if something's too loud, too soft, etc. Of course, all of your computers are different and will have different settings but it would still be nice to know. 2. Which piano do you prefer for the instrumental break? There's Piano 1 (arpeggio chords), Piano 2 (the same instrumentation from the chorus), or No Piano. 3. Do you like echo or no echo on ". . . me" and ". . . stars?" 4. It's all crap, so just give up and forget all about the contest? Thanks! www.megaupload.com/?d=EOHDHO90

From what I can tell, the audio levels are fine. I think you should leave the piano alone, what you have in the full version is great. I have ONE issue with the echo/no echo thing...you're cutting off the word too early, which is why it sounds a little weird both ways. I would say no echo (or a lesser echo), but let it play more of the word. You can tell that the audio cuts out halfway through her saying "me".

Oh, and yeah, I think your ballad version is better and I think you shouldn't give up. I think it's pretty brilliant actually.

Thank you! I added the arpeggio piano just last night, actually, but I think I like it better than what I had first. Regarding "for me," I changed it after I did a few final versions. I don't remember the exact reason why. It could be because of the background music of TS. These a cappellas aren't true a cappellas. You can still hear a little bit of the original music in the background. Maybe that was the problem on "for me" or maybe the volume level sounded weird when she finished the line and it went to the piano. Let me see if I still have an early sample and I'll attach . . . Okay, here's a sample of (1) longer "me" no echo (2) longer "me" with echo: Attachments:
